Another prolific science-fiction writer, with more than 100 scifi titles to his credit, Robert Silverberg (b. 1935) began his career with ΓÇ£Gorgon PlanetΓÇ¥ in 1954 while still a student at Columbia University. He won the 1956 Hugo for Most Promising New Author, and specialized in scifi through the end of the decade. SilverbergΓÇÖs most notable early novels are Master of Life and Death (1957) about institutional procedures to fight overpopulation, Invaders from Earth (1958) about the political corruption of colonial Ganymede, and Recalled to Life (1958), about societyΓÇÖs reaction to new methods for reviving the dead.
